Why do you virtualize?

For one data processing manager on four (24%), the simplification of the operating systems and the delivery of the applications are the principal advantages of the virtualization.
And Symantec, which recently probed the market, adds that one on five questioned person (20%) quotes rather the cost reduction as first advantage.
And for the others? Abstinence, doubts or carryforward… The costs related to virtualilzation remain the principal barrier to its generalized adoption, according to 22% of the probed managers.
The other factors likely to slow down the projects in this direction are: the increasing complexity of the environments (for 12% of the questioned people); risks of problems of interworking with the other systems in place (15%); band-width requirements (12%); incompatibilities with the not virtualized applications and environments  (12%) and necessary time for the training to these new technologies (7%).
